Welcome to ThinkingCAPS!
The idea behind this website is that it is a space to share ideas and resources that may help to inspire our teaching. I'm an English teacher at a High School in Cape Town. So often I find myself struggling to think of interesting ways to approach a new topic in class. I spend hours on the internet in what sometimes feels like a wild-goose chase only to land up at square one - no better off than when I started.
This is the first year that we are teaching the new curriculum in the Senior Phase. I do feel that is has some limitations, but one strength is that the nature of the curriculum is such that we should all be doing the same topics at at least a similar time. This lends itself to great sharing opportunities! As one of my lecturers used to say, "Why re-invent the wheel when you can just share it?"
On that note, I would like to take the first step in sharing the wheel. I teach English First Additional Language to isiXhosa Home Language students, so many of my resources are tailored specifically to my students. If you would like an editable version of anything, feel free to contact me. If you too would like to share the wheel, please do so. The more the merrier!
Here are some of the resources I've uploaded to get us started (click on the image or link to visit the page):
And don't forget to share the wheel :).
